Still Reaching for the Moon

Tights-Forever 21
Dress-Inherited from Sydney

My new Audrey movie of the week is Sabrina. I haven't seen it since I was a very young teenager, but Humphrey Bogart is pretty wonderful. I love him in Casablanca, and now I want to watch that one too. Haha I'm so in love with old movies. I thought it was because of my Mom, but my sisters don't love old movies... so I'm not sure what it is that created this whirlwind of old-fashioned love in my heart.

Anyway. I did lunch with my sweet friend Brittni today. I love our super-girly lunch dates :)

She has this boy she's been seeing, and wonderfully it has been going very well. She thinks it's getting pretty serious. Which makes me deliriously love happy, because this sweet girl deserves nothing but the best. We caught up, and she gushed, and it made my little heart swell a tiny bit :) I hope she marries him...

But this conversation got me to think. I know how to settle. I'm good at it. I settle for people who don't always treat me the best, because I just think that they need someone too. And because I never seem to find people who treat me like a princess. Or I like the ones who don't really see me. So this talk with Brittni made me realize that those men, they actually do exist. And I probably shouldn't settle. And I should strive for someone who wants me for me, and who treats me well.

Because I expect a boy who will lasso the moon for me :)

Sabrina quote:

Thomas Fairchild: He's still David Larrabee, and you're still the chauffeur's daughter. And you're still reaching for the moon.
Sabrina Fairchild: No, father. The moon is reaching for me.

Anyway, life is good, and wonderful, and nothing ever matters except that life will always be wonderful :)

Five in the Morning

Lace tee-Gifted
Bike-Business class project

You may not think that I look very impressive today. But the thing is, Diana and I stayed up until five in the morning to watch Grey's Anatomy. Again. And then we went to church, and no one would've guessed we had stayed up that late. No one has a clue that inside my brain I was imploding from tiredness, and I couldn't take in an entire word of the lessons today.... Whoopsie.

We had a great time watching our show though, so who really cares if we were basically dead today?

In other news, I got a bike on Saturday. And it was free! Now that's pretty great... It was all for a business project where our group started with a rock and traded it up until we got this bike. It cost us only an hour of door-to-door knocking! If that isn't top-notch, I don't know what is :)

Might As Well

Sweater-Forever 21
Trench-Forever 21

I like to wear these huge bows in my hair sometimes, and despite the fact that it makes me look like a little girl, I just can't seem to stop myself. This outfit is from yesterday, but I also wore a huge bow in my hair today. A boy stopped me as I was walking to class to tell me he liked it. He then proceeded to open a door for me, walk me to class, and just be generally charming. It pretty much made my day. I'll post pictures of that extremely Blair-Waldorf-esque outfit tomorrow.

The past two days have been very cold, and despite the grumbling of my peers, I sorta love it. I don't hate cold weather! I actually don't LOVE the sunshine. Which might be to some people's chagrin, but growing up such an artist in the land of all that is good and rainy just makes me a happy little clam on the rainiest of days. And, okay, the last few days were a little rainy, but mostly slushy. Utah is trying its hardest to snow.

Breakfast at Tiffany's quote: ‎"I'll never get used to anything. Anybody that does, they might as well be dead"

And here is my darling Sydney and I being fashiony at Smith's. With Pompeii, naturally.

my big news

Well guys, it's about time I told you the news Sarai mentioned a bit ago in this post (btw, her coat in that post is just fabulous). Here it goes... i'm ENGAGED! Psych, I just feel like that's the news everyone expects from a young single mormon girl.
Okay, i'll stop beating around the bush. I'm going to BYU this winter!!! And Sarai and I will be roommates!! It's our dream come true, literally. When I found out, I stared at the computer for a couple seconds not sure if I was reading "admitted" correctly or not. After I came to my senses, I immediately texted Sarai, called my mom (whose reaction was rather unsatisfactory), and then called Sarai, who I knew would not disappoint in the reaction category.
It's going to be glorious! Here's to the days filled with Sarai; watching all of our favorite movies, eating baked goods, indulging our creative selves, and basking in wonderful music. And school of course, can't forget about that! Hah.

Today was a stressful day, to say the least. I had so much to do, and so many things to deal with. But did I manage to take outfit pictures? Naturally I make time for that...

Do you ever meet those people, the ones with the overactive conscience? They're the worst. I hate that. They feel guilty for other people's actions, and it causes them to snoop in things that they should not snoop in. That bothers me. I understand, if you see someone doing something they shouldn't, you have the right to disagree. But unless they are breaking the law, or harming someone, what obligation do we have to force them to do anything? It's just my frustration of the day. Don't snoop in other peoples business. End. Of. Story. I just hate snoops, is all.

In the words of Holly Golightly:

"If we're going to be friends let's get one thing straight right now. I hate snoops!"

Also, enjoy this picture of me looking downright foolish. Overjoyed? Perhaps. But also, quite foolish.

Top Banana

Horse earrings-Claire's
Striped Sweater-Forever 21
Belt-Forever 21
Shoes-Forever 21

I've been in love with all things Audrey Hepburn since I was a child, and my mother sat me down to watch Sabrina, and Roman Holiday, Funny Face, and Breakfast at Tiffany's with her. She planted the seed of sophistication in my heart, and now, I'm beyond hope. I'm obsessed. Audrey is my icon. The end.

So really, my number one favorite of all her movies is probably Funny Face. But Breakfast at Tiffany's is the one that has had the biggest impact on my personality. If I could be Holly Golightly, living my life in New York, being a sophisticated drifter, not letting anyone own her... I just love it. I love that she's eccentric, and scared, and a big phony. I want to have a couch made of half a bathtub. I want the sweet writer who falls head over heels in love with me.

But, alas, I am in college, studying to be a filmmaker. Because I'm just that obsessed with movies. And I want to create the sort of dreams that girls like me will always have.

Another thing I love about that movie: It gave me the greatest philosophy I've ever heard.

"It's useful being top banana in the shock department"

And this is lovely Diana, who takes my pictures :)

I'd like to point out the fact that I'm wearing the same skirt, and basically almost exactly the same outfit as Sunday's post... so yeah. That's embarrassing. BUT. I love this skirt. It goes with pretty much everything I own. Is this a horrible thing to do as a fashion blogger? Probably. But I can't bring myself to stop wearing it... Maybe I should put it away for a bit. I think so...

So um, I found out the most amazing news of my life today, and I can't even tell you guys about it! Because Nancy needs to tell you herself. So brace yourself for some great news :)

I always need my cohorts. My comrades, my friends, my darlings. Pompeii is number one, being that he's my child. But Sydney is pretty great too. And Todd, my darling home teacher. And then that other guy with the glasses and bunny pee is my new friend Jefferson. So basically, life is good, when I have my cohorts.
