Farewell, Little One

It was a rough weekend in the Davila household. Sweet little Kilimanjaro, the blind rabbit, died on Friday morning. Jaro was no normal rabbit. He was obedient, and sweet, and adventurous, and curious, and above all, incredibly patient. With children who poked him and dragged him relentlessly, to adults who helplessly flailed as they attempted to hold a rabbit for the first time, and with me, who was still figuring out how exactly to care for a slightly blind rabbit. He also had a unique relationship with other animals. He was not scared, in the slightest, of cats, or dogs. He would sit there and either ignore them, or he would kiss them. Highly unusual--bunnies are scared of EVERYTHING. Although, to make up for his bravery in that department, Jaro was scared of things that normal bunnies enjoyed, such as jumping from heights, and playing in the grass. You can't win everything, right?

Jaro, as cheesy as this sounds, changed lives. I can't explain the number of people who met Jaro with trepidation and fear, unsure of how to hold or treat a bunny. Or with the stigma that rabbits bite, rabbits smell, rabbits don't want to be held. Some people even had past, negative experiences. Jaro was the rabbit to change their minds about that. Sweet and patient, and up for anything, that bunny made people go from stiff and nervous to cooing and laughing at his antics within minutes. I will always treasure that about him.

Overload of pictures, NOW

Once upon a time I had RED hair

One really great thing about Jaro--he LOVED piggy-back rides

With his pet bunny. He was very protective.

Bunnies sleep like they are dead

The very first day I got Jaro. I love you forever!

PS: I got a new bunny this weekend. His name is Olympus, Oly for short, and he is so stinkin' cute that I want to cry every time he does anything ever.

It's Birthday Month

Oh hey hey hey. Guess what this month is. Did you guess it? Have you realized that it is BIRTHDAY MONTH?

This is really of significance to my mother and me. She seems to always care so much about my birthday...

Anyway. I haven't posted in a long time, which is pretty normal considering school and work. And I don't really feel bad, so moving on...

My birthday is at the end of this month, and family and friends keep asking me what I want. The thing is, I'm not a huge presents person. I love heartfelt, meaningful presents more than anything. This isn't to say I don't want nice things or nice presents. I'm just saying, I wouldn't love someone less if the gifts were nonexistent.

So for anyone wondering, this is my birthday wishlist.

This Great Gatsby sweater is what dreams are made of. XS please. Oh and a rose, of course.

Oh and then there's this perfect specimen of sweatshirt. I love this beautiful sweatshirt. Can I have it, please? XS, of course.

I am definitely the crazy bunny lady. And I need earrings like this to make it obvious.

This is the annotated edition of Peter Pan. I am deeply in love with this book, and everything in it, and everything in this annotated version. It is seriously splendid.

Words can't express how I feel about this book

Everything on here is bunnies, books, or both. Is my weird showing yet?

I have been lusting after this poster for a few years. I love it.

Okay. I can't do this anymore..

this is everything I could possibly think of apparently. Unless someone wants to splurge and get me a turntable...

My goodness, I had such a delightful day! Spence and I were up pretty late last night, catching up after his week away. So I slept late, which was nice because I didn't have to work, and I could spend my day doing whatever I pleased.
So I woke up, cleaned a little, then went out for a bit.
My roommates and I went out for ice cream and drinks, and then we welcomed a new family member! Tiffany brought her bunny, Sammy, home to us.

So then I spent quite a bit of time with that little baby.

Then Spence got home, and we just dozed on the floor of my living room while Sammy frolicked around us.

Later that night we went to a family game night with Spencer's siblings. I was strangely nervous... which is odd because I pretty much have met his entire family.

But, it ended up being way competitive, and way fun.

So this is Spence with Sammy.

And this is the diva herself!

I know these are old pictures.. they're from Halloween for goodness sakes. But I couldn't leave them un-blogged! If only for the look on Pompeii's face in half the pictures...

So at work last night, I was supposed to leave at ten. And I'm not complaining right now, but seriously, we were there until eleven thirty. Working on panties. Just. Panties. Because today is panty raid. Which means little teenage girls with ridiculously destructive hands will mess all my perfectly folded panties up...

That's depressing...

Anyway, so we spent a million years folding those panties in color-coded order, and that always makes me want to color-code all my own panties! Which is ridiculous, and takes forever. But then it looks so pretty! And I have a lot of those suckers, let me tell ya. It's probably excessive, but when I'm sad, a new pair of panties just makes me happy! It's my version of eating an entire chocolate bar.

Cohorts

I always need my cohorts. My comrades, my friends, my darlings. Pompeii is number one, being that he's my child. But Sydney is pretty great too. And Todd, my darling home teacher. And then that other guy with the glasses and bunny pee is my new friend Jefferson. So basically, life is good, when I have my cohorts.
